Tromsø’s lovely backyard
Massive mountain ranges, fjords and viewing points with unbelievable 360 degree panoramic views.
Tromsøs spektakulære bakgård
Kvaløya is in many ways like a lovely backyard to Tromsø with its imposing mountain masses, fjords and vantage points with incredible 360 degree panoramic views. Geographically, Kvaløya is almost divided into three by Ersfjorden and Kaldfjorden. Large parts of the island are covered by splendid mountain scenery. The highest mountain is Store Blåmann at 1044 metres above sea level.
Here you can find both child-friendly options and demanding mountain terrains side by side. Kvaløya can be explored from a base in Tromsø or by adding a few extra hiking days on the Arctic Haute Route where the island is the first destination on the southbound sailing and the last on the northbound sailing.
